DIED. William Larimer Mellon Jr., 79, a scion of the blue-chip
Mellon family who, at 37, left his Arizona cattle ranch to become
a doctor and minister to Haiti's poor; in Deschapelles, Haiti.
Using $1.5 million of his inheritance, he built a hospital in
central Haiti, where he inoculated 15,000 people a month and
decreased the local tuberculosis mortality rate 90%.
